AI in Engineering: Advances, Challenges and the Need for Computational Infrastructure in Brazil
Professor Alvaro Coutinho, from the Civil Engineering Program at Coppe/UFRJ, addressed the advances of AI in Engineering and the formation of transversal networks to answer contemporary questions in his participation in the debate “Artificial Intelligence and its impact on society”. “There is a great need to invest in computing capacity. Providing the country and universities with an adequate computing network is fundamental. The list of the 500 largest computers in the world has just come out. Brazil has nine machines on this list. But almost all of them are at Petrobras, so we need more,” said Professor Alvaro Coutinho.
The details of the lectures in the debate “Artificial Intelligence and its impact on society”, part of the “Coppe and Society Agenda” series, are being published serially in Planeta Coppe Notícias. On Wednesday the 31st, Fernando Otávio Wehrs Pereira, from NVIDIA, will speak.
The event in its entirety can also be seen on Coppe’s channel in the playlist “Coppe 60 years: series of debates Coppe Agenda and Society”
