Abstract
Due to technical-scientific advances, lighter and slender footbridges have been conceived, leading to the reduction of the natural frequency of structures and a consequent increase in the risk of resonance with human loading. The aim of this work is to study the dynamic behavior of footbridges subjected to the dynamic actions produced by pedestrians, in the light of the existing methodologies of analysis. It is presented the characterization of the human action, the methods for dynamic analysis of footbridges and the human comfort criteria according to the current standards. These methodologies are applied to a typical footbridge constructed in Brasilia, followed by analysis of the considered criteria and results. It was observed that the official rules and standards do not reflect the achieved
